Ralph for Shopify Plus: operator desk without a five-person team

Plus is a commerce stack. It is not an overnight operator. Those are different invoices.

Updated 15 Aug 2026 · ~1004 words · David Smith

Search Console already has "Shopify Plus retainer" sitting next to Ralph queries. Plus brands are being sold people. They still have the same Friday night: a size dies, Shopping stays green, nobody is in Ads Manager.

Direct answer: Ralph works on Shopify Plus because Plus is still Shopify inventory plus a louder paid shelf. It is not a Plus Service Partner brochure and it is not a retainer. It is the operator desk: stock next to Meta and Google, packages in review, isolation if you run more than one store. You keep the keys.
Honest scope: We are not claiming a Shopify Plus badge we have not put on this page. We do not take over checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, or your theme. We do not auto-spend because your plan is Plus. Writers stay gated. Multi-location fiction will still beat any software.

Plus changes the volume, not the physics

A Plus fashion or footwear catalogue is the same matrix as a smaller brand, with more locations and more money behind a wrong parent rollup. The guides we wrote for variant OOS still apply. They just hurt more when the budget is bigger.

What a Plus retainer is actually buying

The cost page already covers bands and questions: what to expect. For Plus, the invoice often mixes three jobs:

If you are on Plus and still paying a full-stack "growth retainer" for the third and fourth rows, you are buying a night shift with a monthly logo. vs agency.

Multi-store is a first-class constraint

Plus brands often run more than one storefront, region, or brand. Ralph is multi-tenant. client_id isolation is a hard rule, not a setting. Do not expect a blended brain that casually mixes two catalogues. Docs: multi-tenant. Ops essay: multi-store Shopify.

Locations will try to be clever

Retail + DTC + 3PL + B2B company location is normal on Plus. Feeds that sum every location create magical UK 8s. Paid traffic can only fulfil the location you actually ship from. Pick that pool. Encode the buffer there. Then ask Ralph to watch it. If the warehouse report and Shopify disagree, fix Shopify first.

Approval does not get lighter on Plus

Bigger spend is a reason to keep the gate, not remove it. Campaigns land in pending review. Catalog carousels stay PAUSED until you say so. That is the same product philosophy as a solo founder. Trust: trust. Spend question: does Ralph spend without approval.

Location priority, written down

This is the Plus-specific way paid traffic starts lying. Do it once.

  1. List every location that can hold the SKU (DTC warehouse, 3PL, retail, B2B/company).
  2. Circle the one that can fulfil a Meta or Shopping click tomorrow. That is the paid pool. The others are not.
  3. Do not sum them in the feed. A London store UK 8 is not a shippable UK 8 for a Manchester DTC order.
  4. B2B / Plus catalogs. Wholesale price lists and company locations should not leak into the DTC catalogue. If they do, ads will shop stock a consumer cannot buy.
  5. Markets. UK vs EU vs US availability is not "in stock somewhere." Destination country has to match the fulfilable location.
  6. Name a feed owner. Theme agency, ads agency, and founder should not all "kind of" own Merchant Center. One name.

Then run the same variant audit as everyone else, just louder: remove a size, footwear, dogs that still have stock. Stock-aware frame: pillar.

This week on a Plus store

If you want the category definition rather than the Plus angle: what problem Ralph solves.

Use Ralph on a Plus store without boiling the ocean

  1. Connect the Plus store. Shopify is the spine. Do not start in Ads Manager.
  2. Name the fulfilable location. Retail + 3PL + wholesale will lie to paid if you sum everything.
  3. Audit top paid variants. Cover versus catalogue availability. Same test as a smaller brand, louder spend.
  4. Leave writers off until the brief is trusted. Plus is not a reason to auto-publish. Approval stays the product.

Questions people actually ask

Does Ralph work on Shopify Plus?

Yes. Plus is still Shopify product and inventory truth, usually with more locations, more variants, and a louder paid shelf. Ralph's job does not change: correlate, draft, wait for approval.

Is Ralph a Shopify Plus retainer?

No. A Plus retainer buys people. Ralph is software. Many Plus brands already pay both and should know which invoice is overnight legwork.

Do we replace a Plus agency?

Not for theme work, checkout extensibility, or wholesale process. For stock-aware ads and the morning list, software is the better shape than another coordinator.

Multi-store / multi-brand on Plus?

Ralph is multi-tenant. Each store is isolated. That is a product requirement, not a slide.

Will Ralph write to our Plus store unsupervised?

Material actions are designed for pending review. Many writers default off. Plus is not a reason to turn that off.

What about Shopify Plus catalog / B2B?

B2B and wholesale locations are exactly how feeds start lying to DTC ads. Pick the fulfilable pool. Ralph will not invent a location priority you did not set.

If you want stock, ads and the morning list in one place: that is what we built Ralph for. A growth operator for Shopify, with review before anything ships. Not magic. Fewer tabs. See Ralph · Docs
